It's official - we i.e. Medulla and yours truly, are addicted to Facebook! Ever since we were 'introduced' to this social networking site (I recall Medulla writing something about it..) we have probably spent most of our free time superpoking to having food fights to playing Scrabulous (*cough* Miss J *cough*) to sending virtual gifts from places such as the bakery and the candy store.
The addiction is growing at an alarming rate that I've even found myself checking out who's thrown a balloon or sent me a virtual designer handbag during work!
Fortunately (of unfortunately, whichever way one would look at it) I am not alone. Studies show that staff/employees visiting online networking sites (or cyber-loafing as it is commonly known) might affect productivity. In Britain, an employment law firm estimated that businesses lose 233 million hours every month to staff who visit networking sites when they should be working. The cost in lost productivity was calculated at $390 million a day! Yes that's per day. Not a matter to be taken lightly indeed..although there are some who argue that it's not the number of hours worked that counts, rather what matters are the outcome and deliverables at the end of the day.
So while I'll let the debate as to what is right or wrong go on, perhaps I should take it easy on this whole Facebook thingybob before it completely takes over my almost non-existential social life!
I just wonder how some people, with over 50 people tagged as friends, cope and keep track with all those never-ending notifications/invitations...I can't even remember half of those on my list!
