"Car park = spaces available"

One of the many quirks - about my fellow folkpeople - which has always stumped me is their dislike to use underground parking (or any kind of parking facility which imposes a fee) even when there is a slim-to-none chance of finding an empty space during peak hours/pay day. I just don't get it when people prefer going/driving round up to 5 times with the hope of finding that elusive free parking space AND avoid having to fork out $2 at the same time. Yet no one complains when paying for a $5-per-cup latte nor do they bat their eyes when shelling out $3 for a pack of ciggies.

Call me cynical but perhaps I just don't share the satisfaction one gets for getting that free parking space after 5-6 rounds of searching and the huge amount of expletives that would probably come out from my mouth!
