Leaving on a jet plane

As I prepared the things I would need to bring for my business trip next week, it dawned on me how tiring it can be what with having to decide what to bring, whether I should bring a big suitcase or not (even though the meeting's only for 2 days but all in all, the other 3 days involve either changing terminals/airplanes or having to stay overnight before catching the next flight home), the amount of money I would need to bring (I'm currently falling behind my plans to save up for my summer trip...not good, not good at all) and making sure that my bills are paid up esp my credit cards!

I used to have this impression that travelling for work was something to be proud of. Simply hearing people go on about how so-and-so's hardly around due to the endless meetings so-and-so is involved with would somehow cause my head to swell like a big red balloon painted with a huge smiley face (cringe moment here).

Not anymore.

I actually cringe everytime someone mentions (to me) that I might have to attend some meeting or seminar outside the country. "No, no" or "Do I have to?" are usually the words that come out of my mouth. I know I might come off as some spoilt ungrateful brat but travelling for work purposes is never a glamourous job..no matter how exotic the country is!

I remember last year was the busiest for me...the longest being 2 weeks in Geneva. By the first week (and after spending a rather short weekend in London) I was bored and exhausted esp having to sit through hours of non-stop negotiating over minute details!?! Can you blame me for feeling that??

But not all of them was that bad. Two back-to-back working visits to Singapore and Thailand respectively turned out to be a whole lotta fun despite the tight schedules that had been planned for us!

Sooo this 'thing' which I've been avoiding is back. I'm gonna have to review the items that I've set aside for this coming trip...should I bring my slippers along now? do I need to bring my rather annoyingly humongous laptop just incase the hotel can't afford to show star world/hbo/star movies/axn? do I have enough undies to last me til I get back?

For all you know I might end up having to pull an all-nighter JUST to pack my stuff!!
