The crazy things people do

Some of you might remember receiving (and deleting) an email a few weeks back titled "Kuliranga" featuring pictures of one particular woman with the smallest waist EVER..where I remember thinking (and I also remember feeling bad for saying it) "This woman is a freak!"

So when she appeared in an Oprah episode this afternoon featuring world records, I couldn't help but say out loud "She IS a freak!?!" Here was this 70-year old grandmother who goes by the name of Catherine Jung whose waist measures at a mere 15"(38cm...that's narrower than a family-size jar of mayonnaise and probably one third of my current waist size *LOL*) achieved by wearing tight-fitting Victorian corsets (think of those dresses in Gone With The Wind and Pirates of the Carribean) 24-7 only taking them off when she showers.

Come to think of it, she kinda resembles an hour-glass 'clock' *shudders*

What was she thinking?? (part 4)

Want more proof that money cannot buy you style? Then look no further than this..this monstrosity fashionistas dare call, ugh, a handbag.

Fashions are the only induced epidemics, proving that epidemics can be induced by tradesmen.

Is honesty always the best policy?

Thought I'd share this with you..

"WARSAW (Reuters) - A Polish man got the shock of his life when he visited a brothel and spotted his wife among the establishment's employees.

Polish tabloid Super Express said the woman had been making some extra money on the side while telling her husband she worked at a store in a nearby town.

"I was dumfounded. I thought I was dreaming," the husband told the newspaper on Wednesday.

The couple, married for 14 years, are now divorcing, the newspaper reported."

Say what?

"I don't have a problem. Seventeen hours a day online is fine." Lee Chang-Hoon, 15, at a camp for compulsive Internet users in South Korea

Stars start appearing before my eyes after two hours so either that makes me abnormal or this guy is a freak who practically lives, breathes and swears by the internet!?! Makes me wonder if he even finds the time to visit the loo..

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

"Woman sets fire to ex-husband's penis"

A woman set fire to her ex-husband's penis as he sat naked watching television and drinking vodka, Moscow police said Wednesday.

Asked if the man would make a full recovery, a police spokeswoman said it was "difficult to predict."

The attack climaxed three years of acrimonious enforced co-habitation. The couple divorced three years ago but continued to share a small flat, something common in Russia where property costs are very high.

"It was monstrously painful," the wounded ex-husband told Tvoi Den newspaper. "I was burning like a torch. I don't know what I did to deserve this."

I've heard of women chopping off their fellas', ahem, bits..setting fire is definitely a first for me!

As for the fella claiming he didn't know what he'd done to deserve the unfortunate attack, he'd probably had a part to play as well otherwise the ex-missus wouldn't have set fire in the first place..

Ouch!!

And my name is..."@"

What is it with people trying/claiming to be inventive or original when it comes to naming their kids? I mean can you imagine the trauma a child called 'Echo' or 'Kal-El' will undergo once they're all grown up?? And recently, the list of weird children's names continues to grow when a Chinese couple decided to name their newborn baby...wait for it...'@'

What are we supposed to supposed to call this child then?? Whatever happened to those easy-to-remember-yet-simple names like Jack? or Elizabeth? or Lee/Li?

So a word of advice to those soon-to-be-parents: think of your child's wellbeing in, oh say, 6-7 years' time. 'Echo' might sound cool initially but come 10 years later, the kid might have to legally petition for a more decent name!

What will they think of next?

Something for tech geeks and tv addicts out there...

A Japanese company is now marketing what is claimed to be the world's smallest wearable tv. Yes, you heard it right - you can actually wear a tv. It's perfect for those moments of the day when you can't watch tv say, when you're at work and you want to catch tomorrow's finale of
Idol in the morning, or you have a dinner engagement on a night when you can't afford to miss an episode of House or Prison Break, or maybe when you're getting married? Alright, so maybe that last moment might be stretching it a wee bit but you get my drift right?

As you can see, a thin screen is placed infront of one eye, letting one watch non-stop at those critical times when one might be otherwise be forced to pay attention to something else.

Trust the Japanese to come up with something like this. Give it a couple more years and they'll probably come up with, oh say one which resembles contact lenses.

What next...? Part two

"Men convicted of stealing miles of railway line"

Remember when the theft of cables made headlines in this country last month?

THIS definitely tops that when three men were found guilty of stealing over 4km (2.5 miles) of rail track to sell as metal scrap.

The things people would do to make money.

But then can we blame them 100%? With everything getting expensive and the ever-increasing gap between the wealthy and the poor, it's difficult to place the blame on the latter group who are trying to survive, albeit by any means if necessary.

If the demand is there, as with the stolen cables, then one might as well make the most of it, right?

On the other hand, taking something which a government has spent so much on also means depriving people of the benefits which come with the expenditure...therefore it's not necessarily the 'right' thing to do..

..and in this particular case, can you imagine the chaos that would happen if a train were to be travelling along that particular track?

Not something I want to envision happening *shudder*
