It's that time of the month again. People are flocking to the shops in droves, preferring to skip the nightly tarawih prayers on the pretext that they want to stock up prior to the coming Eid celebration. The shops are alive with the sound of the cash registers going kerrching every 10 seconds..the shop owners are rubbing their hands with glee..they'll be able to pay off their rental for the next 6 months with the amount they'll be making over the next 2 1/2 weeks or so!
Meanwhile the authorities will be telling us not to go overboard in our spending but this will fall on deaf ears. "It's our money, we can do whatever we want to with it" ... "But Eid is just 'round the corner" .. just some common excuses people will make to justify themselves.
There'll be no stopping them for the next 2 1/2 weeks. Malls and banks will be packed. The borders will encounter an upsurge of cars/people who want to do their shopping in our neighbouring country. Mosque attendance will be reduced...
..and I will have to find alternate ways of going to the gym *sigh*
