"Win or lose next week, Jordin will make music videos incorporating Strawberry Shortcake. And she will end each one by making a heart with her hands. And I will put a needle in my eye."
"As disappointed as I am that Melinda is out (and Jordin is in) am I sad at how any celebration of Blake making the finale was completely cratered. Boy got no love. None. Really awkward when he and his parents were on camera. And, for the record, I've hated Jordin since her first performance in the Top 24. Her phony BS was in full effect that night and the performance was lifeless, bovine and DOA. And nothing has changed. She was so awkward and insincere in her homecoming package tonight, it was uncomfortable to watch."
"Finally! While I thought Melinda was technically proficient, she bored me to tears. She had zero personality and most of what I saw seemed fake and contrived, probably a result of listening too much to her stylist and image consultant rather than just being, oh say, natural."
It had to happen. Again. An upset was inevitable and this season wouldn't be any different from the previous seasons.
A few weeks back I recall telling a friend that even if Melinda made it to the finals with Jordin, Jordin would have the upper hand no matter what. Jordin has the looks (though I cringe everytime I see her gigantic stature towering over the likes of Ryan, Lakisha and even Melinda), fanbase (the fact that she's 17 gives the producers of AI the perfect chance to boost their ratings with the tween/teens) and the pipes (but then so did last season's other teen finalist Paris Bennett but I'm guessing her looks played a role in her elimination). In other words, Jordin has THE package.
Fair enough.
But I've come to notice, over the past few weeks, how egotistical (though some might argue it's down to confidence..yeeaaahhh right!), boring, safe and fake Jordin has become. And last night's performances proved all of the above points. Even when I thought Blake wouldn't stand a chance, there was still that slim chance the voters would give an extra push for Blake over Jordin.
Wrong!! Ugghhh!! As much I hate admitting this but I actually cried for Melinda...I'm so grateful my office is strategically located at a far-end corner otherwise people might think I've gone off the rails HAHAHAHAHA
So now i've decided to boycott next week's finale. I don't really give a toss as to who will end up winning. As someone rightfully commented from the TWOP website "Except that this is a SINGING competition, not a musical composition/arrangment competition. I mean, I know it's not REALLY a singing competition 'cause it's American Idol and you've got people like Taylor Hicks winning it....If this show were actually based on singing talent, Blake wouldn't have even made it to the top 12..."
Sadly Melinda doesn't fit the bill or package which the producers are looking for.
"The problem with Jordin is that people like Randy keep on saying "Wow! you're 17 no matter what they say at 17 you can really blow dawg!!!" This kept on repeating every week (ala Diana Degarmo) that somehow Jordin was able to capitalize her age throughout the show. On the other hand, judges don't overrate Melinda by saying "You're a background singer before but you really are a fantastic singer, How come no one has sign you up before?" or "You should have gotten a record contract by now!"
And to think I was going to blame Paula....
