Although we've got till May 15th to find out who'll win this year's American Idol, so far the ride hasn't exactly been a smooth one from my POV (though the ratings in the US so far have been stellar but let's not delve too much into that).
Let's see...after that whole mess known as the 'let's-get-Diana-Ross-as-a-guest-mentor' stint..I thought "could it get any worse?"
But much to my surprise, I enjoyed last week's Idol with Lulu (can she have too much Botox??!?) and Peter Noone (who???) ...perhaps that Diana Ross thing was just a little blip.

Then the spoiler wh**e in me read it would be Gwen Stefani's turn this week..and my first thought was, pardon my French, "WTF??!!??" Hey, I like Gwen and her music but I can't imagine Lakisha bopping away to "Hollaback Girl" or Chris Sligh singing his own rendition of,say, "Don't Speak" a la Coldplay..again!! But as it turned out, the Idol wannabes were given the choice of No Doubt/Gwen's material as well as artists which inspired Gwen...smart move? I suppose it was.
Initially I was going to run by each of the 10 wannabes but now I think I'll just pick out the ones that deserve a mention in my post..and yes,no matter how hard I try, I have to make a special mention of Sanjaya!
Actually I'll start with Sanjaya cos no matter how much I'm wishing that the voters would stop voting for him, there's always something that needs to be said about him..be it his performance or his infamous hair..and this week, it's gotta be THAT hairdo. I remember telling a friend of mine, Miss J, that Sanjaya ought to be in something like America's Next Top Model or some other reality show about hairdos...'cos he would definitely win by a HUGE landslide! [Medulla..wouldn't you agree with me on this too??] I was too busy laughing my ass off throughout his performance that I didn't even notice (him) forgetting some lines (as pointed out by Miss J) It was BAD. Period.
Gina..Gina..Gina...what can I say..but that girl seriously needs to dump her stylist whoever she maybe. Loved her performance but her outfit esp the boots was just too painful to watch.
And don't even get me started on Jordin...why?...Why??...WHY???? By the way I still can't get over the fact that she's twice Ryan Seacrest's size..or maybe more..*shudder*
As usual, Blake, Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin were the ones to 'beat' though Lakisha looked kinda "bored" and somewhat distracted to me. Phil stepped up tonight and finally covered himself with that beanie (seriously, that guy needs to grow some hair and a wee bit of tan!) So I'm thinking Chris S, Chris R and Haley could be in the bottom 3...notice that I'm not including Sanjaya..largely because I'm pretty sure the voters are gonna wanna keep him for maybe another week or so..for the sake of probably seeing how far he'd make a fool of himself!! As Simon Cowell rightfully put it (or something to the effect) "It doesn't really matter whay we say anymore"
Right on Simon! You took the words right outta my mouth..and perhaps the rest of the viewers as well.
On a sidenote: I noticed that during the end credits, Ryan mentioned "House" being on next..now if only Starworld or Astro would follow-up on that..would save me a whole lotta trouble of having to wait 24 hours just to watch the latest episode of "House"
