i apologise to all for not contributing recently. it has been a hectic few weeks. it's about time i start talking about my favourite topic..FOOD!
i must share with you this most delightful little place i found in BANDAR of all places! it's called Savy's Brasserie. it is so good, that i have been there about 4 times in the past month!
they serve western food, has an extensive menu and a very good dessert list. the ambience is excellent. the service is very good. the prices are a bit steep, but i guess you pay for what you get. dinner is a good time to go. we tried having lunch there twice, you never have time for dessert!
plus points : good ambience, excellent food, attentive service.
minus points : 5* prices, location, location, location - the fact that this gem of a retaurant is in the middle of Bandar!
above are a few samples of the gorgeous food that cupcake and friends have devoured.
NB if you are booking for a large group, pre-order to make life easier. also, they are closed on Sundays.

Oooh those pictures are making me hungry *sluurrp* We must make it a point to go there one day..right girls? *wink* *wink*
D mana kan wisma hjh fatimah ani? yum... tais liur ku laaaahhh.... what are the prices like? what'd your total bill end up to?
oh yes, we must! so when??? there were a few more pics but i am still trying to get to grips with the photo uploader thingy....
Anon..either you're not a Bandar person (which I don't blame you heheh) or you weren't around yet when there used to be another restaurant (correct me if i'm wrong here Cupcake but was it called Grill's Kitchen...?) that was quite famous back in its heydays. In any case, the building is next to the infamous Parking Bertingkat building..
yep, it is unfortunately next to "parking bertingkat".
yep, kitty, it used to be "the grill room" or something like that. price-wise? if you are talking starter, main course and dessert, it may be about $50-60 per head...
it's amazing how this little gem of a place ended up in Bandar!
Boh! Mahal jua ah... kalau romantic dinner for 2 oklah... but malu ku jua bejalan di Bandar atu dressed up to the nines! Heheheh! Cubatah di Mall, there're no posh places to eat n that building, fast food, food court. I'm sick of celebrating birthday dinners di Dynasty, Emperor's Court, Atrium, Li Gong... At least kalau di Kiulap pun ok... di Bandar... hrmmm...let's see if stomach wins over inhibition...
Yes... bila please people? Yums.
Hmmm..the million dollar question.. bah start checking your schedules people!
Well Anon, at least there are more options now instead of the usual places you just mentioned..plus I don't mind it being in Bandar as opposed to The Mall or anywhere in Gadong..sudah tah busy tempat atu payday or no payday, it's all the same!@!
Cupcake, you've certainly attracted a lot of comments on your entry ;)
if it's dinner for two, then it has the perfect ambience. it's quiet. chances are you won't meet someone you know, if it is a secret date or something(hehehehehe...)
sure its on the steep side and it is in Bandar, the good thing is parking isnt a problem. what we do is park at the taxi rank in front of Parking Bertingkat (you can from 6pm to 6am) and it is a quick stroll to Savy's. and Bandar is so quiet at night anyhow, not a lot of people will spot you looking GLAMMED UP for dinner..
best bit, no traffic!
anyhow, it might be more busy now, now that i have attracted much attention with this entry.
girlfriends, when are we going?
to adam's mama. list of dishes, from top to bottom
-i can't remember the name of this salad, but it had feta cheese, olives, curly salda leaves and cress, baby tomatoes, cucumbers plus a gorgeous dressing. (needeless to say you know which bits i ate only)
-seared scallops and king prawns with asparagus and caviar cream sauce
-pumpkin soup served in a pumpkin, topped with Gruyere Cheese souffle
-a threesome (trio?) of beef. thats shanks, ribs and loin with creamy mashed potatoes
-poached pears with cherry sauce and vanilla ice cream
okay, i have to say these first five items were the five course meal we had for Christmas Eve Dinner. so i am not that sure if they are on the normal menu.
the following are definitely on the menu, i had them the last time we went on 9th Jan
-starter : Napolean of Mushrooms. Sauteed chopped mixed mushrooms served in between layers of crispy wonton skins.
-main course : Braised Boneless Beef Shanks with steamed veg and mashed potatoes
- crepes with bananas, with chocolate sauce, a drizzle of toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream.
- another appetiser : beef tenders. very thinly sliced beef, served with some sauce i didnt know. my friend, Caveman had this, it was gorgeous!
- Caveman also had the Australian Rack of Lamb, again with steamed veg and mashed potatoes.
oh dear, i am drooling again, remembering how nice the food was..
