Wake-up call ?

It was inevitable..in the end he had to go..such that his sacking even made it as "Breaking News" over CNN - a spot usually reserved for events that affect our lives. So what exactly went wrong? There's no easy answer to this but in a way, Steve Maclaren (that's the former England coach to you non-football fans out there) was just the icing on a melting cake. The lack of (international football) experience coupled with the lacklustre English squad who, despite all the hype, are nothing but a bunch of narcissistic, self-centred, materialistic fellas lacking in finesse and quality...although I must give some credit to Beckham for his efforts in riling up some enthusiasm and belief. The English are proud of their football heritage..after all, the English Premier League is known for being the top league when compared to the other football leagues in the world...yet,at most times, they're all style with little substance, or at its worst, none at all.

So,echoing Eva Peron, don't cry for them. They have no-one but themselves to blame. The recent events should serve as a reality-check to those concerned that England is no longer a football super-power. Having said that, I doubt anyone will even want to acknowledge this..
