Friday night at the cinema

Maybe it's the age plus having-a-family thing, or he's running out of original jokes but Adam Sandler is losing his edge. Gone were those days when his almost lurid jokes used to crack me up - I still rate Billy Madison as the epitome of the Adam Sandler humour - instead we are stuck with jokes that are old and lame..and his latest offering I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry is no Billy Madison, or even 50 First Dates.

Pairing with the not-so-funny-anymore Kevin James from The King of Queens, Sandler is Chuck, a fireman who loves his women (who in turn seems to love him back for his Mr February pose) and helps out his best bud, Larry by faking a gay marriage in order to preserve the pension benefits which Larry stands to lose. The jokes especially those referring to homosexuals are feeble, politically incorrect and yes, lame - though I must admit to sharing the laughter with everyone else in the cinema!

And of course, a typical Hollywood flick must not forget its female love interest..who in this instance is played by current It-girl Jessica Biel. See I've never understood all the current hoo-ha about her (one that sticks to my mind her being named the sexiest woman alive by Esquire..say what??) and her role in this movie further proves my point that she's nothing more than another typical Hollywood actress with a hot bod (grrrrr) who's willing to star in movies where producers/directors are interested in exploiting.

I'm not saying the entire film is bad though I wished I could fast forward the Jessica Biel parts..the premise isn't anything new or original but if, like me, you're in the mood for a good laugh then go check it out..

...or buy the dvd instead
