How far would you go to getting an IT handbag even if the purpose of that handbag is an attempt by the designer to persuade fashionistas to think green as an effort to save the environment?
Take the infamous I'M NOT A PLASTIC BAG canvas tote by Anya Hindmarch. Designed for ferrying groceries home instead of using plastic bags, this limited edition bag has caused a huge frenzy particularly on this part of our planet that a mall in Hong Kong had to be shut down last month by the police. Infact plans to launch the sale of these bags in Indonesia and Singapore had to be cancelled due to fears that people might turn nasty when they can't get their hands on the bag. All this because of bag that costs US $15!?!
So are these people buying such bags (when I could probably make something similar of my own) for the reason of supporting the save-the-environment movement OR is it simply for the trend? I've seen three people so far toting the Hindmarch bag yet none of them have been seen ferrying their groceries in their bags so I'm guessing it's got nothing to do with saving the environment!
Top to bottom: Anya Hindmarch 's I'm Not A Plastic Bag, Stella McCartney
