Another 180?

So in another bizarre twist that only Hollywood can offer, Paris Hilton was sent back to jail by the same judge to serve the remaining of her 45-day jail term, instead of the reduced 23-day term.

While some are applauding the judge for taking the hard stance - yes, I do agree that celebrities should not be exempt from the law, no matter how useless and talentless they are - it's mind-boggling how much attention this spoilt, attention-seeker can command all because of her stupidity, ignorance and arrogance that even respectable newspapers such as The Times, the International Herald Tribune, The NY Times have joined in the sensationalism reserved for tabloids and gossip magazines by allocating space for her!

In my ideal world, I would like Paris to disappear into obscurity because of the stress she had to endure whilst being in prison along with the shame of being a useless person all this while. And I hope she brings Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Britney and Posh with her too.

But of course we all know that ain't gonna happen.

It appears that in Los Angeles County, if you are a wealthy individual or famous individual, that you are getting preferential treatment in the county jail system, in the county criminal system." Steve Remige, president of the Association of Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriffs, referring to Paris Hilton's early release from jail.
